Student chants condemned by politicians across Spain

Prosecutors in Madrid have opened an investigation after a group of male university students chanted obscene comments at female students on a university campus.

Videos of the incident, which took place at an all male halls of residence at the Complutense University last weekend, went viral after being shared on social media.

In response to the videos, political leaders including Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and opposition leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo, issued strong criticism.

Madrid’s public prosecutor has opened an investigation to decide whether the incident amounts to a hate crime.
