DGT launches road safety campaign

The DGT has launched a new campaign whcih will check cars for essential road safety.

Running until this Sunday, officers will be checking cars tires, breaks, lights and other essential safety equipment needed for the safe running of vehicles.

Officers from other forces, including Policia Local, are also expected to take part in the operation, which aims to ensure all cars on the network is roadworthy.

Alongside vehicle safety, around 20,000 abandoned vehicles are still unaccounted for, with extra vigilance being taken to remove these from the nations highways.
