Pedro Sánchez Vows “All State Resources” Will Be Used to Protect Ceuta

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has pledged that “all the resources of the State” will be used to guarantee security in Ceuta following the recent large-scale migrant crossings from Morocco.

Speaking after chairing a high-level coordination meeting in Ceuta, Sánchez described the mass arrivals as “a violation and an attack on Spain’s territorial integrity”, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to restoring security and supporting the autonomous city.

He thanked the Armed Forces, Guardia Civil, Policía Nacional, local emergency services and public officials for their response to the crisis.

The Prime Minister also welcomed Morocco’s cooperation in accelerating the repatriation of people who do not have the right to remain in Spain and said both countries would continue working together to combat the criminal networks responsible for people trafficking.

He stressed that Spain would maintain close coordination with European partners as efforts continue to manage the situation at the EU’s external border.

Sánchez announced that the government will also examine additional support measures for small businesses and self-employed workers in Ceuta whose operations have been affected by the recent disruption.

He said protecting public safety, restoring normality and supporting the local economy remain the government’s immediate priorities.
