Government denies allegations over Catalan independence vote
Written by on 26 March 2024
The Government has denied negotiations for a Catalonian independence referendum, criticising the ERC for promoting ‘old, conflict-prone’ methods.
The Governments Chief of Staff – Félix Bolaños – said the claims were purely electioneering ahead of May’s regional elections.
A Constitutional challenge by the Government against a Catalan parliamentary motion on independence was discussed at Cabinet this week, with legal opposition set to be filed in the coming days.
