Spain to Enhance Road Safety Measures Amid Rising Traffic Fatalities

Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska has unveiled a series measures aimed at reducing the number road fatalities.
The schemes have been launched after it emerged in the first quarter of the year, Spain witnessed a 16 percent increase in traffic-related fatalities compared to the same period in 2023, with 261 people dying on interurban roads.
Ninety-five speed control points to be installed, four hundred thousand more alcohol checks and twenty thousand drug tests, plus enhanced surveillance on motorways are all included in the measures.
