Written by on 3 December 2023
PSOE and PP have confirmed they are to look at reforming Article forty-nine of the Spanish Constitution to strengthen the rights of disabled people by eliminating the term ‘disabled’.
PSOE and the Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez have called for all parliamentary parties to support the reform, with PP already confirming that they will back improvements to the rights of disabled people.
The reform will require approval by a three-fifths majority in both the Congress and the Senate, and may be subject to a referendum if requested by a tenth of the members of either chamber.
