Mallorca Hells Angels leader facing trial over organised crime

Prosecutors in Mallorca have called for a 13-year prison sentence for the former head of the Hells Angels in Europe, after his trial for organised crime began on Monday.

In total 49 people are currently undergoing trial, with 34 of them agreeing to a plea deal allowing them to pay substantial fines rather than serve time behind bars.

German national Frank Hanebuth is accused of leading the motorcycle club which had connections to the islands criminal underworld.

Alongside him stands a number of German, Greek and British citizens as part of the trial.

The gang is accused of money laundering, illegal possession of firearms, prostitution, drug trafficking and membership of a criminal organisation.
