Four die in head-on collision in Madrid region

Four women have died in a serious road accident on the M-608 in Madrid.

Three of those who perished in the crash are understood to be children, who died in a head-on collission early on Sunday in Collado Villalba.

Officials said that a 26-year-old, and children aged 16, 15 and 13 died in the crash, with a 30-year-old woman being taken to hospital suffering from multiple injuries and in a serious condition.

Investigators are studying the scene of the accident, to determine how a vehicle lost control and ended up on the wrong side of the road, resulting in the fatal crash.
