Farmers discard thousands of litres of milk in protest

Farmers in Andalusia have thrown thousands of litres of milk down the drain, in protest against lower prices.

Dairy producers have objected to a new lower price of 9c per litre being offered by dairy company Puleva, stating that the new price is not affordable.

Members of the Organizations of Farmers and Ranchers (COAG) have said that the firm is refusing to collect their produce due to the disagreement, resulting in over half a million litres of milk being disposed of from around 160 different farms.

COAG have called for members and Puleva to meet for negotiations to provide a resolution to the situation.
