Spanish Socialist Party and main opposition tied in polls, new survey shows

According to a recent survey by the Centre for Sociological Research (CIS), PSOE and the main opposition Partido Popular (PP) would be tied in polls if elections were held today, with PSOE slightly ahead at thirty-two point six percent compared to PP’s thirty-two point two percent.

The progressive platform Sumar, led by acting Labour Minister Yolanda Díaz, is experiencing the fastest growth, with twelve point seven percent of the vote.

The far-right VOX party would lose support and have ten point one percent of the vote.

Negotiations are ongoing ahead of a planned investiture vote for the acting prime minister Pedro Sanchez – a failure to form a government next month could see Spain return to the ballot box early next year.
