Over a thousand migrants arrive in the Canary Islands in 24 hours, 320 in the largest ‘cayuco’ ever recorded

Over one thousand irregular migrants have arrived in the Canary Islands in a twenty-four hour period over the weekend, with the majority arriving on the island of El Hierro.
A record-breaking ‘cayuco’ carrying three hundred and twenty people landed on El Hierro, while others arrived on Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
The Guardia Civil, Salvamento Marítimo, and Cruz Roja were involved in rescue operations, and some migrants were taken to medical centers for treatment.
