Former King hints at return to public life after lawsuit thrown out
Written by on 8 October 2023
Emeritus King Juan Carlos I has successfully had a £126 million pound lawsuit brought against him by his ex-lover thrown out.
The King’s former mistress had accused Juan Carlos of harassment after she refused to return millions of euros to him.
Juan Carlos denied the allegations in a court hearing in London, with the judge ruling in his favour, stating that the lawsuit lacked reasonable grounds.
Speaking after the case, Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, expressed deep disappointment with the decision.
The former king moved to Abu Dhabi in 2020 after a series of scandals and has not participated in any official act with the Spanish royal family since.
However a spokesperson said that following the conclusion of this case, the former King may return to public life again.
However the Spanish royal household has declined to comment on the statement.
