Cultural tourism in Spain increased in 2022

Last year cultural trips accounted for nearly twenty percent of all trips in Spain according to data released by the Government this week.

Figures show that residents took sixteen point four million cultural trips, and international tourists taking eleven point nine million.

The top regions for cultural tourism were Madrid, Catalonia, Andalusia, and the Valencian Community.

Additionally, Catalonia, Madrid, Andalusia, and the Valencian Community were the autonomous communities that spent the most on cultural trips.

The Basque Country had the highest average spending per person on cultural trips.

When it comes to accommodation, hotels were the most popular choice for residents in Spain, followed by rented properties, homes of family or friends, and their own homes.
