The Coast Guard has rescued six hundred and seventy-seven migrants in waters near the Canary Islands.

Rescues from six boats and a rubber dinghy occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday, involving individuals of Sub-Saharan origin including minors, women, and individuals with serious medical conditions.

The rescued were brought to ports on multiple islands for assistance with some requiring airlifting to hospital for emergency treatment.

The rescues come as it was confirmed that over 6,000 have died trying to cross to the islands.

The body of a Belgian woman who was reported as missing on the island of Tenerife has been found off of the coast of the island.

Officials said the 66-year-old, who has not been named, was last seen in Adeje on the 24th April.

Her body was found after being spotted by a passer by in the waters near Arico.
