Spanish airports break historical record with 29.9 million passengers in August 2023

Spanish airports handled twenty-nine point eight million passengers in August, an increase of 9.5% compared to the previous year.
Airport operator Aena also saw a significant increase in the number of flights handled, with over 235,000 arrivals and departures in the same month, a rise of 5.7%.
As well as passenger number increases, cargo volumes also increased, with over 86,000 tonnes of freight arriving and departing by air, increasing cargo volumes by 10.6%.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport recorded the highest number of passengers and aircraft movements, while Zarragoza airport triumphed with the largest cargo traffic volume.
