🔴 LIVE – State of alarm issued as death toll jumps to 120

Yesterday the number of infections passed 3,000, whilst the number of deaths stood at 86. The majority of cases are in the capital Madrid.
Regional medical authorities have started to implement restrictions on visitors to patients, and have asked that people only attend medical centres in emergencies.

Towns in the Catalan region have imposed quarantine in an effort to restrict the spread of the virus. Igualada, Santa Margarida de Montbui, Òdena and Vilanova del Camí have all implemented restrictions.

Nationwide school closures have been announced, and social events including carnivals and sporting events are to be cancelled or postponed. Museums nationwide are also to close their doors.
The border with the Spanish enclaves Cueta and Melilla are also to be closed. 62 countries are also implementing restrictions on visitors from Spain.
