Legal action to be taken over Catalan phone spying scandal

The Government has denied any involvement after Catalan sepratists accused Madrid of installing spyware on the mobile phones of dozens of pro-independence supporters in the region.

In a large scale investigation carried out by Toronto based Citizen Lab, the highlighted that 65 individuals had their devices targeted by software produced by two Israeli defence companies.

Catalan politicians Carles Puigdemont and Oriol Junqueras announced legal proceedings at the European Parliament yesterday, whilst the regional president Pere Aragonès announced the immediate cessation of negotiations with the Government over the regions future autonomy.
