Spanish Prime Minister adds to diplomatic row with Israel

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has sparked a diplomatic storm after he said that he had “serious doubts that Israel is complying with international humanitarian law”.

The latest row came a couple of days after he also accused Israel of the ‘indiscriminate killing of Palestinians’ during its military operation in Gaza.

Israel has condemned Sánchez’s comments as ‘outrageous’ and recalled it’s ambassador in response.

For the second time in a week, Spain’s ambassador to Israel was also summoned for a rebuke.

Mr Sanchez said in reply to criticism from Israel that “Friendly countries also have to tell each other the truth…”
