Spanish Football Federation Calls Meeting Over Women’s World Cup Kissing Row

FIFA has suspended Luis Rubiales, the president of the Spanish Football Federation, after he kissed player Jenni Hermoso on the lips.

Rubiales denies any wrongdoing and claims the kiss was consensual, but an internal investigation has been launched.

The controversy has caused Spain’s women’s World Cup winning squad to refuse to play until the federation leadership is removed, leading to protests outside the Spanish Soccer Federation in Madrid.

Meanwhile political party Sumar has requested the suspension of the President based on the Sports Law, whilst the PP has urged the government to take action against Mr. Rubiales. Sumar has also called for the protection of Jennifer Hermoso in relation to the incident.
