Spain to be battered by series of storms over the coming days
Written by on 1 November 2023
Weather warnings have been issued after meteorological agency Aemet confirmed that storm Ciarán will bring strong winds, rain, snow, and high waves to the Iberian peninsular today, with the Galician coast having an extreme risk warning.
Wind gusts of over seventy to eighty kilometres per hour are expected, with even stronger winds in coastal and mountain areas.
Rainfall will be widespread, except in the southeast, and snow is expected above elevations of one thousand meters.
A new deep low-pressure system will bring more rain to the peninsula on Saturday, excluding the southeast and Balearic Islands, with significant downpours expected.
Sunday will see rain confined to the northwest and mountainous areas, with strong but less intense winds.
