Spain hosts latest European summit in Granada

The third summit of the European Political Community and the meeting of the Council of the European Union has taken place in Granada.

The summit focused on topics such as long-term support for Ukraine against Russian agression and EU expansion.

Ukrainian President Volodímir Zelenski was a key figure at the summit, while notable absences include President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan.

The summit is seen as a strong message of support for Ukraine and highlights Spain’s significance in European debates.

During a meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Ukrainian President Volodímir Zelenski, Spain pledged additional military aid and energy equipment, including six Hawk launchers to protect critical infrastructure in Ukraine.

Mr. Zelenski expressed his gratitude for Spain’s support and called for Europe to be prepared for a potential new Russian offensive.

Discussions also covered mediation in conflicts, sector-specific meetings, and future EU expansion.
