The Spanish Government has confirmed it will only send humanitarian aid as part of an EU wide support package, and will not send weapons to Ukraine.
In a statement from the Prime Minister, he confirmed that Spain would align with Hungary, Ireland and Austria in providing only non-lethal support to the eastern European country which was invaded by Russia last week.
All member states of the EU agreed at the weekend to provide funding worth half a billion euros to provide arms including weapons and ammunition as well as fuel, medicines and military grade protective clothing and helmets.
Bulgaria, Cyprus and Malta have also confirmed they will only send non-lethal aid.
