The Government has said it has collected two point nine billion euros this year from windfall taxes on power companies and banks, with energy companies paying eight hundred twenty-seven million euros and banks paying six hundred twenty-six million euros.
This is the second tax instalment paid by these companies this year.
The windfall taxes are an important part of Spain’s budget, with much of the money being spent on tackling the cost of living crisis.
