Sanchez tasked with forming a Government by King

Acting Prime Minister and leader of PSOE has been tasked with forming a government, after meeting King Felipe VI yesterday in Madrid.
In what came as no surprise, the leader of PSOE was instructed by the monarch to start the investiture process, which is hoped will lead to his appointment as the formal Prime Minister.

Mr Sanchez is due to start to hold meetings with regional party leaders in the coming days. PP has been nominated as the official opposition party.
The position of regional leaders, including those who support independence in Catalonia and the Basque region, could be pivotal for the formation of a new Government.
