Protests continued after day of strikes across Catalonia
Written by webmaster on 22 February 2019

Protests continued in Barcelona on Thursday evening against the ongoing trial of a dozen Catalan separatist leaders in Madrid.
Pro-independence supporters took part in a general strike in Catalonia yesterday to protest against the proceedings. Activists burned tyres and blocked key roads in the north-east region.

The trial into the roles played by the 12 separatists is in its second week.
On Thursday, former Catalan government member Santi Vila, ANC’s ex-president Jordi Sanchez and fellow activist Jordi Cuixart were scheduled to testify at the court.
The trial is expected to last at least three months. If found guilty, the group could each face up to 25 years in jail.
The defendants deny all the charges.
