🔴 LIVE – Third week of lockdown begins, as extension confirmation due in days

The third week of the national lockdown has begun, with an extension to the restrictions expected to be approved in the coming days.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has said he will ask the Spanish Parliament to approve an extension of the state of emergency until the 26th April.
Sanchez made the announcement in a statement issued on Saturday from the Moncloa.
The first step to the extension was passed when regional presidents gave their approval to the plans at a meeting on Sunday.
The Prime Minister met with the regional heads to discuss the extension. It’s understood whilst all agreed, some called for changes to the level of restrictions that were to remain in place.

Deputies from the Spanish Congress will vote on the formal extension in the coming days.
