Written by on 11 December 2019

Hundreds of people were evacuated yesterday morning, after a fire broke out at a recycling centre in Montornès near to Barcelona.
Emergency services initiated their Chemical Emergency Plan, as concerns over chemicals leaking from the plant into the Besós River were raised.

The Catalan Water Agency has said that it has had reports of dead fish in the waters near by, with a degradation in water quality due to the fire.

The fire was reported this morning at 7.41, with Bomberos attending the scene shortly afterwards. The fire was brought under control shortly after 3.30, leaving one person with minor injuries.
