Government seek extension to state of emergency

The Spanish Government has announced that it is intending to extend the state of emergency for another 2 weeks, after gaining approval from regional presidents.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will now ask for approval on Tuesday from his cabinet, and then finally from the Congress of Deputies on Wednesday.

The announcement was followed by an update from the Ministry of the Interior which said it was closing the land, sea and air borders to all those who were not either Spanish citizens or residents in the country. That restriction came into effect at midnight.
