Discussions held today over relaxing of face mask rules

Rules surrounding the wearing of facemasks are likely to be eased in the coming weeks, as regional health chiefs are due to meet today to discuss the coronavirus pandemic.

Currently it is mandatory to wear a face covering when inside shops, bars or other premises – unless a person is eating or drinking.

Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is understood to have suggested the current rules may be amended ahead of the Easter holiday season.
