A war of words has erupted between the Catalan regional government and Madrid, after the Spanish Government was accused of sending a symbolic number of face masks to Catalonia.
Catalan Minister of Interior, Miquel Buch, accused the Government of having intentionally delivered 1,714,000 masks to Catalonia. He said the number was a reference to the year Barcelona fell to Bourbon troops in the War of Succession.

His comments have been heavily criticised by both Catalan and national politicians. Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau called for calm, saying that the regional minister should correct his statement.
