Airport passenger numbers fall 12% compared to 2019 figures

Passenger numbers through Spanish airports were 12% lower last year when compared to 2019 figures, thats according to a report released yesterday by airport operator Aena and the Minsitry of Transport.
246.6 million passengers passed through the nations airports, with officials saying data is showing that volumes are starting to return to expected levels.
December 2022 saw nearly the same level of passenger traffic as in 2019 – a record breaking year.
82.3 million people took domestic flights last year, whilst 160.5 million international passengers were recorded as using Spanish airports.
Madrid’s Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas was the busiest airport nationwide, followed by Barcelona El Prat. Palma de Mallorca came in third with a total of 28 million passengers.
