An investigation has been launched after the bodies of a couple were found in their home in Gran Canaria.

The bodies of a woman, approximately sixty years old, and a man, in his fifties, were discovered in a property in El Zardo.

Initial investigations suggest a case of domestic violence, with indications that the man may have killed the woman before taking his own life.

No previous complaints were reported, although it has been confirmed that the man had a restraining order from a prior partner.

Budget airline Ryanair says it has launched a private criminal prosecution against a disruptive passenger who caused a disturbance onboard a flight from Lanzarote to Santander in January.

The passenger on flight FR2001 caused a forty minute delay after they tried to occupy a seat that was not assigned to them, after causing a disturbance in the cabin.

The man was removed by Guardia Civil after they became verbally abusive towards cabin crew.

The airline said the delay affected 137 passengers who were travelling on the flight.

If found guilty, the man faces three to twelve months behind bars or a fine equivalent to six to eighteen months of their salary.

A mother and her nineteen year old son, who were kidnapped from their home in El Salobre, Gran Canaria, have been rescued and are safe.

Police sources confirm that their release resulted from significant pressure from authorities, however they have not confirmed if a ransom was paid.

Investigations into the incident, which occurred last Wednesday, continue, with a focus on possible connections to drug trafficking.

The family of thirty-three-year-old Gary Shearer, who disappeared on holiday in Lanzarote two years ago, are to return to the island as the search continues regarding his case.

A Jet Two flight from Tenerife to Nottingham made an emergency landing in Spain on Thursday, after a passenger, believed to be in his seventies, died onboard.

The aircraft diverted to Santiago Rosalia de Castro Airport after declaring a medical emergency.

Emergency services responded promptly upon landing, but sadly, the individual was declared dead shortly thereafter.

The nationality of the deceased man has not yet been confirmed.

In a statement, a Jet2 spokesperson acknowledged the incident, confirming that the flight diverted to attend to a customer in urgent need of medical attention.

They expressed their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased during this challenging time.
