Concerns raised over new border restrictions on Portuguese border

Questions have been asked by Portugal’s foreign minister after the Spanish Government announced that those crossing the land border between the two countries would require a PCR test to enter Spain.
Portugal’s foreign minister Augusto Santos Silva has said the decision must have been a “mistake” and has asked authorities in Madrid for clarification, saying that if the decision was upheld, Portuguese border officials would adopt reciprocal measures.
A health ministry spokesperson said people crossing the border would be obliged to carry health documentation in case of sporadic checks.
The land border between the two countries only reopened at the start of last month, after being closed for three months.
