Government defends recommendation of 1 pay rise for NHS workers

Union leaders have described the Government’s defence of a 1% pay rise for nurses and other health workers as “contemptuous”. Health Minister Nadine Dorries said the Government could not afford to give NHS staff in England a pay rise of more than 1% following the revelation that the figure has been submitted to the sector’s pay review body (PRB)..
