The forest fire in Gran Canaria has continued to burn throughout the day yesterday, with firefighters struggling to keep control over the blaze.
Strong winds have caused the fires to spread, with over 1500 hectares of grassland has been destroyed in the fire, which was triggered after a 55-year-old man used a welding torch without protection.
Currently around 300 emergency staff are working on tackling the fire, with thirteen aircraft providing support.
The areas of Tejeda and Artenara were particularly affected by the spread of the fire today due to the winds.
Over 400 people were evacuated from the nearby area since the fire was declared on Saturday afternoon.
Despite the fires, there has been no reported losses of life, nor any disruption to holiday resorts.
A 55-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fire.
