Tourist numbers fall, whilst expenditure rises according to data

The number of tourists visiting the Canaries in May fell by 2.1% compared to the year before to 5.67 million. However the average value of tourist spending rose by 2.5% according to data released by authorities this week.
The data also shows that the Canaries was the top destination for tourist spending, beating the Balearics and Andalucia.
€1.07 billion were spent by tourists last month, with each tourist on average spending €1,204.
