Tourism numbers fall across Canaries in 2019

Tourism numbers in the Canaries appears to have fallen by just under 5%, according to the latest Frontur and INE data.
To date, 10.7 million international tourists visited the Canaries, with October seeing a drop of 9.1% to only 1.1 million tourists.
Holiday duration also appears to have shortened by 0.2%. Expenditure also appears to have dropped slightly by 0.7%.
Tourists from the UK continue to make the largest share of the visiting population, at 36%, with the Germans in second place.
The collapse of holiday firm Thomas Cook is being seen as one of the main reasons for the drop in traffic in the last few months.
