Three arrested after tonne of cocaine discovered on boat near La Palma

Guardia Civil in La Palma have arrested three people after intercepting a boat which was carrying a tonne of cocaine on board.
The sailboat, which was registered to a Croatian port, was detected 88 miles west of the island as part of an ongoing investigation into the movement of drugs onto the archipelago.
980 packages of drugs was discovered on board when it was raided at sea last week.
Citizens from Albania, Montenegro and Bosnia or Croatia – who all have previous criminal records for drug and firearms smuggling – were detained and have appeared in court ahead of trial.
