Storm warning issued for Canaries as rough seas and strong winds to hit islands

The Canarian Government has issued a storm weather warning for strong winds and rough seas for today, after issuing an alert that came into force last night.

Meteorological agency AEMET has issued a yellow weather warning for the western islands, with waves in excess of 5 metres height expected.

The warning is in effect for the north and west coasts of La Palma, El Hierro, La Gomera, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote and on the north coast of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, and is in effect until Saturday night.
