Review to be held over mandatory use of masks in public spaces after regions voice concern

The Ministry of Health as well as regional authorities have said that they will hold a review into the changes made to laws regarding the mandatory wearing of masks in public spaces.
Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, said that she will be working with regional counterparts to provide technical guidelines on the implementation of the enhanced rules, which came into force yesterday. It’s understood some autonomous communities asked for clarity on what the new rules meant, and how they should be enforced.
The new rules state that masks must be worn – except in certain circumstances – in all public spaces, irrespective of whether social distancing can be observed.
Yesterday, Canarian regional president Angel Victor Torres confirmed that the rules regarding the wearing of masks would be continued, but asked for a common sense solution in the future.
Valencian Regional Minister for Universal and Public Health, Ana Barceló, has called for the law to be amended, to allow for sunbathing and bathing on beaches or by pools in the Costa Blanca to be exempt.
