The President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in the Canary Islands, Ahmed Moussa, have held meetings to discuss the migration situation, as the number of people arriving on Canarian shores has risen significantly in the last few months.
In the meeting, both agreed to explore all available options to tackle the people trafficking gangs, and to reduce the number of people putting their lives at risk to cross the ocean from the Maghreb to the Canary Islands.
In a press statement after the meeting, it was also confirmed that Mr Torres will soon visit Morocco, to continue with discussions over the situation.
