WATCH – Congress of Deputies approve extension to state of emergency to April 11th

The Congress of Deputies has approved the extension of the emergency period by 15 days until the 11th April.
After a debate that ran well into the night, members of Congress approved the decision to extend the emergency measures.

During the vote it was announced that Vice President of the Government Carmen Calvo had tested positive for coronavirus in a second test. She was admitted to hospital on Sunday with a respiratory infection.
Also the Government has announced a proposal to suspend the payments of rent for two months.
Vice President for Economic Affairs, Nadia Calviño, said that the Government was considering measures to help those in most need. It’s understood the measures will be debated in the coming days.
