UK citizens who have lived in Spain for more than 15 years are to get the right to vote in UK general elections.
The announcement was made in this weeks Budget, where £2.5 million has been allocated to fund the change.
Those affected will be allowed to vote in the constituencies where they lived before leaving the country.
Legislation is due to be laid before Parliament later this year to bring about the reform. The law was changed in 2002, introducing the fifteen year limit.
At the 2019 general election there were a record 233,000 registered overseas voters.
