The Supreme Court has unanimously agreed with the decision of the Central Electoral Board to remove Catalan regional president Quim Torra’s powers, in response to him being found guilty of disobedience over the failure to remove yellow ribbons from government buildings during an electoral period.
The Catalan Parliament has now been sent an order to replace Torra within the next 2 days, it is due to sit on Monday to debate the ruling.
An appeal is expected to be launched in the coming days.
