Pedro Sanchez has won his investiture vote, after the second vote held today in the Congress of Deputies.

In a close result, he gained 167 votes in favour, 165 against with 18 abstentions.

Mr Sanchez is to now form a coalition Government with political partners Unidos Podemos.

There were cheers from PSOE and Podemos members in the hemicycle as the result was announced.

The result brings to an end months of political uncertainty in the country.

On Sunday, PSOE leader Pedro Sanchez failed to secure an absolute majority in the Cortes to form a Government. He was 10 votes short of securing a mandate from Parliament.
