Nearly quarter of road fatalities due to excess speed – DGT

The DGT has released data showing that driving at the correct speed would have cut nearly a quarter of all road deaths.
Driving in excess of the speed limit was the second most prevalent factor in fatal road accidents, with 22% of all accidents being down to speeding. Distractions was the highest cause of road deaths, whilst alcohol the third.
This week see’s officers involved in another road safety campaign, as traffic continues to rise over the summer season.
