27,856 new cases of the coronavirus have been detected nationwide since Friday, with a further 195 people dying after testing positive for covid-19.
The latest figures were announced by the Ministry of Health as the total number of deaths reached 33,124, with infections now standing at 888,968.
Today will see another meeting of health officials from the Government and the regional authorities in Madrid, as reports suggest infection rates are starting to show signs of contraction.
Regional leader Isabel Ayuso is expected to formally request an end to the state of alarm that was introduced by central government last week, however it is not yet known when restrictions will be lifted.
Meanwhile, over 10.8 million PCR tests have been carried out since the start of the pandemic.
According to the latest regional data, nearly 103,000 tests are being carried out daily – an increase of 7%.
