Over 500 roads nationwide are currently blocked or damaged due to snow or water damage after Storm Filomena.
Currently 527 roads on the Spanish network are understood to be affected by both snow and ice, as the clean up continues after last weekends record breaking weather event.
29 major routes remain affected by the storm, with emergency services and local authorities continuing to clear debris from the storm. The DGT has also said that many roads are passable, however they say drivers should only drive on them with caution.
Meanwhile it was announced that a million school children will not return to school until at least Monday because of the storm. Schools in the worst affected areas have remained closed during the cold snap – however classes are due to move online today until next week.
Today red, amber and yellow weather alerts continue to remain in force, with temperatures in Guadalajara expected to fall to -20 ºC.
