40,000 more police on the beat over holiday season

The Ministry of the Interior has announced that over 40,000 more police officers will be on duty over the summer months, to deal with the busy tourist season.
Officers from Policia Nacional and Guardia Civil will be drafted to nine regions to increase surveillance at strategic points in the country such as airports, stations, ports and hotels, as well as tourist spots including resorts.
The operation is expected to begin at the start of June and continue until the end of August, and will include the Canaries, Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol, as well as the Balearic Islands.
