Written by on October 16, 2020

Minister of Health – Salvador Illa – has said that he hopes that the state of alarm in Madrid will not last longer than another two weeks.

In an update to the Congress of Deputies, the minister said that the situation was concerning, and called for people not to lower their guard.

The update also announced changes to the early response plan to tackling the pandemic. There will now be four levels of alert – low, medium, high and extreme – based on the spread of the virus, hospital capacity and infection rates in regions nationwide.

Using the new criteria, Aragon, Castilla y León, Madrid and La Rioja would immediately move to the highest tier of control.
